FRIARPUK'S POSTINGS

Hi! I’m Pastor Heath Pukallus, a Lutheran minister in Australia. On this site I seek to present Christ centred sermons, which clearly distinguish between Law and Gospel. The Law tells us what we are to be and do. Therefore, it shows us our sin. And, the Gospel tells us what God does for us, it blesses us unconditionally, dependant on Jesus' obedience. Therefore, it shows us God's grace despite our sin. Grace, Mercy & Peace to you. Friarpuk

Being a practical and visual person, with a functional view of the faith and the ministry, I believe the best theology is always one which is practical!

My Deepest Joy!

Praise God that in my sinfulness and weakness he is forever forgiving and strong. Each day under God’s forgiveness, I come to know more and more the unmeasurable expanse of God's grace, as I come to know more and more the depraved bottomless depths of my sin.
As Luther once said to Melanchthon, “If you are a preacher of grace, then preach a true and not a fictitious grace; if grace is true, you must bear a true and not a fictitious sin. God does not save people who are only fictitious sinners. Be a sinner and sin boldly, but believe and rejoice in Christ even more boldly, for he is victorious over sin, death, and the world… Do you think that the purchase price that was paid for the redemption of our sins by so great a Lamb is too small? Pray boldly—you too are a mighty sinner. (August 1, 1521 in LW 48: 281-282)
God has saved and continues to forgive me, despite my sinful nature and the sin that leaks from within. I acknowledge my sin, “I am guilty!” Praise God that on the cross Jesus has won for me the sentence of eternal life! Therefore, by the switch of grace I am no longer guilty, but saved!

DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF GOD'S WORD!

Luther writes: In the matter of faith one must let everything go and cling to the Word alone. When we have gripped that, let the world, death, sin, hell and every misfortune storm and rage. But if you let go of the Word, you will be doomed. (SL.XI.1767,15)
